Grade 2

Duration:6:12

This show is based on the story of Texas’ Lost Battalion, the 36th Infantry Division that was captured by the Japanese during WWII and spent most of the war as POW’s. The show opens with “Hometown”, an up-tempo segment based on folk theme representing many of the small Texas towns that were home. This is followed by “Call to Arms” with its fanfare-like themes representing the young men being called to serve. Next we hear “Capture”, a mournful segment in minor tonalities representing the years of hardship as prisoners of war. This segues into “Liberation and Homecoming”, a glorious finale segment with a reprise of the “Hometown”, theme representing their return. This is a different type of patriotic show with a true story to appeal to your audience.
