This show is a tribute to the spirit of the Vikings and a celebration of Norse mythology. We open with “Erik, the Red”, the great Viking leader and explorer. The music is inspired by Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman” and is a bold, sea-faring theme. Next we meet, “Freyja, Goddess of Love” with music from “Solveig’s Song” from the Peer Gynt Suite by Grieg. This ballad is followed by “Loki, the Trickster”. The music is from “In the Hall of the Mountain King” by Grieg with driving percussion, accelerating tempos, and a touch of humor! Finally, we take a “Journey to Valhalla” with heroic music inspired by Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” and “Seigfreid’s Funeral Music” building to a dramatic finale!
