This show is based on the quest for El Dorado, the legendary lost city of gold hidden deep in the jungle of South America. It is also inspired by the poem “Eldorado” by Edgar Allan Poe. The show opens with “Conquistador’s Quest”, an exciting Spanish-themed opener with some flowing woodwind interludes. Next, we hear “Mountains of the Moon” from Poe’s poem. This is a beautiful but haunting ballad representing the lonliness of the quest. This is abruptly followed by “Valley of the Shadow”, another line from the poem. This is a fiery section representing the conflict and battles of the quest featuring some bold brass and driving percussion. “Reprise and Finale” recaps some earlier themes to bring the quest full circle and builds to a dynamic finale!
