Grade 1

Duration: 5:18

This show is a tribute to our nation’s struggle for independence and features music from the Revolutionary War period.  We open with “Independence” with melodies based on old fife and drum tunes.  We hear a woodwind interlude on “Yankee Doodle”, and build to an exciting finish.  Next, we hear the hymn “Chester” by William Billings featuring a flute or piccolo soloist (also written for baritone) and a beautiful full band chorale.  We conclude with “Yorktown”, an exciting finale representing the final battle that won our independence.  There is a darker “Yankee Doodle” in minor mode, percussion interludes, and a glorious finale.  “1776!” is a different kind of patriotic show that is perfect for smaller or young bands.  Your audience will enjoy this Revolutionary War tribute!
